QTS
was contracted by Global Octanes to perform a preliminary feasibility and cost
analysis on retrofitting a gas turbine for gasifier service at Global
Octanes’ Corporation Deer Park, Texas Plant.
During this time it was determined that the utilization of a mature
frame Westinghouse W251AA combustion turbine would best suit the client’s
needs. From the preliminary
analysis, Global Octanes determined that the proposed unit after being
retrofitted would adequately supply the MTBE plant with the required exhaust
air supply. QTS was then
contracted to manage the project and turn-key the refurbishment and
retrofitting of the unit. Presently,
the unit has been installed and successfully commissioned.
Included is a letter from Global Octanes regarding the recent gasifier
project.

QTS completed a
project for Black and Veatch International to procure, refurbish, upgrade,
install and commission (1) 25 MW Gas Turbine Generator Set for South
Australia. In general, the
project consisted of negotiating and purchasing the units which were located
in Argentina. QTS then turn-keyed
the refurbishment phase of the project on-site in Argentina and performed
necessary engineering services to increase each units output from 25 MW to 28
MW. QTS also provided on-site
technical direction for the commissioning of the units in South Australia.
The project began in September and the unit was successfully
commissioned in February.

shipment and provided on-site technical direction for installation and
commissioning in South Australia. The
unit was procured, dismantled and shipped in November and was successfully
commissioned in January/February. Due
to time constraints, the unit was only inspected and verified for reliable
operation by QTS engineering.
